Today, this method is applied in different disciplines such as Magnetic fabric of rocks, palaeomagnetism and environmental magnetism. Each of these magnetic methods is suitable for a particular lithology. Therefore, the potential of sandstones of Shemshak Group, in central AlborzMountain range were examined to record their response to the application of some conventional magnetic methods. This rock unit is formed during two major tectonic events of early and middle Cimmerian and has great coverage not only in the study area but also in a vast majority of Iran. The total number of 135 oriented core samples was taken from 18 stations. In this study combination of magnetic and petrographic data are examined. The result of magnetic mineralogy analysis of all samples (except samples from stations 10 and 15) show irreversibility i.e. minerals such as hematite and magnetite, have formed during the heating stage. The results of thermal demagnetization analysis showed that ferromagnetic minerals present in the samples (except samples from stations 10, 14 and 15) have demagnetized below 400 °C and by proceeding heating, samples show zigzag pattern or show abnormal increase in susceptibility. This indicates that, the magnetic minerals are formed during heating in one stage and due to unstability lose its susceptibility in other stage. The magnetic susceptibility (Km) vary from 200-400×10-6 SI for more stations of study area, indicating abundance of paramagnetic mineral in this rock unit. From petrography point of view all the sandstone samples are classified as arenites and ratio of quartz to lithic fragment and feldspar is relatively low, which may indicate low mineral maturity. Comparison of magnetic mineralogy and thermal demagnetization data for two stations S10 and S15 show that there is an inverse potential relationship between amount of stable ferromagnetic mineral in a sample and amount of its alteration during heating stage. The results of this study reveal the poor nature of Shemshak Group sandstones for palaeomagnetic studies due to their low mineral maturity and water percolation which increase the possibility of acquisition of chemical remanent magnetization (CRM). The high sedimentation rate of sandstones cause magnetic inclination and declination error, and low ferromagnetic mineral fraction in samples, make them unsuitable to record magnetic directionsduring formation of rocks. However, abundance of paramagnetic minerals such as biotite in these rocks, proves their applicability for magnetic fabric studies.}, keywords = {Geomagnetic method,Shemshak Group,Sandstone,Ferrimagnetic,Paramagnetic,Alborz,Iran}, title_fa = {ویژگی‌های مغناطیسی ماسه‌سنگ‌های گروه شمشک، در پاسخ به کاربرد روش‌های زمین‌مغناطیس}, abstract_fa = {دانش زمین‌مغناطیس یکی از پرکاربرد‌ترین شاخه‌های دانش ژئوفیزیک به شمار می‌رود. این دانش امروزه گستره وسیعی از کاربرد‌ها،  همانند مطالعات فابریک مغناطیسی، دیرینه‌مغناطیس و مغناطیس محیطی را در برمی‌گیرد که هر کدام از این روش‌های مغناطیسی، مناسب لیتولوژی‌های خاصی است. ماسه‌سنگ‌های گروه شمشک در خلال دو رویداد مهم زمین‌ساختی سیمرین پیشین و میانی تشکیل شده‌اند و نه تنها در منطقه مورد مطالعه، بلکه در گستره وسیعی از ایران نیز پوشش مناسبی دارند. از این رو، برای ارزیابی پتانسیل این واحد سنگی در پاسخ‌گویی به کاربرد روش‌های زمین‌مغناطیس، مورد مطالعه قرار گرفتند. از 18 ایستگاه، 135 نمونه مغزه جهت‌دار در این واحد، برداشت شد. در این مطالعه از تلفیق داده‌های حاصل از آزمایشات مغناطیسی و داده‌های سنگ‌نگاری استفاده شد. منحنی‌های ترمومگنتیک حاصل از آزمایش کانی‌شناسی مغناطیسی همه نمونه‌ها از تمامی ایستگاه‌ها (به جز ایستگاه‌های 10 و 15) نشان داد که از نوع برگشت‌ناپذیر بوده و کانی‌هایی مانند هماتیت و مگنتیت در اثر دگرسانی نمونه‌ها، در طی مرحله گرمادهی تولید شده‌اند. نتایج آزمایش مغناطیس‌زدایی حرارتی نشان داد که کانی‌های فری‌مغناطیس موجود در نمونه‌ها (به جز نمونه‌های ایستگاه‌های 10، 14 و 15) پس از دمای 400 درجه سلسیوس باز مغناطیس‌ شده‌اند که این مسئله به صورت زیگزاگی شدن یا افزایش غیر عادی پسماند مغناطیسی، در منحنی‌های پسماند مغناطیسی- دما در مرحله افزایش دما دیده می‌شود و بیانگر این است که این کانی‌ها از ترکیب شیمیایی کانی‌های مغناطیسی با دمای کوری پایین (حدود 400 درجه سلسیوس) با اکسیژن و در اثر افرایش دما به وجود آمده‌اند. اندازه‌گیری پذیرفتاری مغناطیسی (Km) نشان دادکه این مقدار برای بیشتر ایستگاه‌های منطقه در محدوده SI 6-10×400-200 می‌باشد که نشان از فراوانی کانی‌های پارامغناطیس در این واحد سنگی دارد. مطالعه سنگ‌نگاری مشخص کرد که تمامی ماسه‌سنگ‌های منطقه از دسته آرنایت‌ها بوده و در آنها نسبت کوارتز به قطعات سنگی و فلدسپار، نسبتا پایین است که نشان‌دهنده بلوغ کانی‌شناسی پایین نمونه‌ها است. مقایسه داده‌های آزمایش کانی‌شناسی مغناطیسی با آزمایش مغناطیس‌زدایی حرارتی برای دو ایستگاه S10 و S15 نشان داد که بین میزان کانی‌های فری‌مغناطیس پایدار یک نمونه و میزان دگرسانی آن در طی مرحله گرمادهی، یک رابطه احتمالی عکس برقرار است. نتایج این پژوهش نشان می‌دهد که ماسه‌سنگ‌های شمشک به دلایلی مانند پایین بودن بلوغ کانی‌شناسی و عبور جریان آب از درون آنها که احتمال به دست آوردن پسماند مغناطیسی شیمیایی (CRM) را بالا می‌برند، سرعت رسوب‌گذاری بالا که احتمال افزایش خطای میل و انحراف مغناطیسی را تقویت می‌کند، پایین بودن کسر کانی‌های فری‌مغناطیس که عدم ثبت دقیق جهت‌های مغناطیسی را سبب می‌شود و حضور کانی‌های فری‌مغناطیس با دمای کوری پایین که توانایی ثبت و حفظ جهت‌های دیرینه‌مغناطیسی را ندارند، از اعتبار بسیار ضعیفی برای مطالعات دیرینه‌مغناطیس برخوردار هستند، با این حال فراوانی کانی‌های پارامغناطیس مانند بیوتیت در این رسوبات قابلیت کاربرد آنها رابرای مطالعات فابریک مغناطیسی به اثبات می‌رساند.}, keywords_fa = {روش‌های زمین‌مغناطیسی,گروه شمشک,ماسه‌سنگ,فری‌مغناطیس,پارامغناطیس,البرز,ایران}, url = {http://www.gsjournal.ir/article_42306.html}, eprint = {http://www.gsjournal.ir/article_42306_fb0f88843d414ace4023c5aac961000c.pdf} }
