Structural and kinematic analysis of the Posht-e-Badam, Chapedony and Chatak-neybaz fault zones in the western part of the central Iranian microplate

Abstract
Posht-e-Badam and Chapedony fault zones, in the west of Central Iranian microplate, constitute the boundary between Kerman- Kashmar tectonic zones in the east and Yazd block in the west: Posht-e-Badam metamorphic complex was thrusted over Chapedony metamorphites along Chatak-Neybaz fault zone. On the basis of present geometrical and kinematic data such as slickenfibers, slickenlines, shear band cleavages (C-type) and fault related folds in the aforementioned fault zones, Posht-e-Badam fault zone, a dextral strike-slip ductile shear zone, reactivated as a dextral (with a thrust component) strike-slip brittle fault zone due to decreasing of faulting depth. Moreover, Chatak-Neybaz and Chapedony shear zones had a ductile, sinistral (with a normal component) mechanism which was later translated to a brittle dextral strike-slip mechanism.
