One of the most important carbonate gas reservoirs in the Zagros and Persian Gulf sedimentary basins is the Dalan Formation. This research investigates the microfacies, lithostratigraphy, and sequences of carbonate-evaporite deposits in the Lower member of the Dalan and the Nar member belonging to the Guadalupian series with a total thickness of 2402 meters in four wells namely A, D, E, and G located in the eastern part of the Qatar-Persian arc in the Persian Gulf. The study of 340 thin sections prepared from the drill-ing cutting pieces with 2-meter intervals of well E, and a review of documents related to other wells. this led to the identification of 20 species belonging to 14 genera of foraminifera and the foraminiferal assemblages consisting of 65 species belonging to 25 genera. A foraminiferal biozone was recognized in well E, assigned to the Wordian. - Capitanian: Pachyphloia- Globivalvulina- Hemigordius, Assemblage Zone. Additionally, 11 microfacies, are distributed in five environments (sabkha, intertidal, lagoon, shoal, and shallow marine).

In the present study, in order to reconstruct the paleoenvironmental and climatic changes of Jiroft during the last 4000 years, several evidences of sedimentology and biogeochemistry on a sedimentary core have been investigated. Around. 3950 cal yr BP, low values of Ti/Al, Si/Al, C/N and CPI along with high values of δ13COM, and Paq indicate a wet period in Jiroft. evidence indicates a relative decrease in humidity between about 3900 and 3293 cal yr BP. Between 3293 and 2897 cal yr BP, Jiroft was dry and dusty. The results show very dry conditions with a significant increase in the amount of dust around 3200 cal yr BP. A long-wet period from about 2897 to 2302 cal yr BP can be recognized with high Paq values. The highest Ti/Al values along with the lowest δ13COM values indicate increased wind activity and dry conditions between 2100 and 1650 cal yr BP. Jiroft experienced wet conditions between 1540 and 1315 cal yr BP. With the relative decrease of rainfall, a semi-humid climate prevailed in Jiroft between 1315 and 854 cal yr BP.

The Oligo–Miocene Asmari Formation is the most important reservoir rocks of the Dezful embayment oil fields. This study interpret sedimentary environments and sequence stratigraphy of the Asmari Formation in Karun oil field based on changes in facies, gamma-ray log morphology and change in concentration of thorium, potassium and uranium elements of the natural gamma- ray spectrometry. In this regard, 1 evaporate, 9 carbonate facies and 1 mixed facies were recognized. The thorium to uranium ratio used to analyze the oxidation, reduction condition. Based on the vertical distribution of the facies in the sequence stratigraphy framework, three 3rd order sequences were determined. Changing the trend of logs in time reflects the decreasing trend of gamma- ray in the sequence boundary and increasing trend at maximum flooding surface. Five main morphologies including left Box Car shape, Right Box Car shape, Serrated Bell shape, Serrated Funnel shape and serrated shape have been recognized. The conformity of this morphologies with the sequence stratigraphy leads to the relationship between the Left Box Car shape with Low stand system tract, Serrated Bell shape and Right Box Car shape with Transgressive system tract and Serrated Funnel shape with High system tract.
