Calcareous nannoplankton from Neogene deposits of Khorasan

Abstract
Neogene deposits crop out in Kalat, Shirvan, Gonbad Deraz, Dalbaran, Tabas and Birjand in various parts of Khorasan areas. So far, no systematic fossil studies were carried out in the above-mentioned areas. For the first time the biostratigraphic zonation of calcareous nannoplankton from the Neogene of Khorasan are reported.
The main purpose of this study is to establish the biostratigraphic zonation, as well as correlating them with the universally accepted standard biozones. From the nannofossils obtained, the sample interval is in the NN 11, NN 12, NN 15, NN 18 of Martini standard zonation.
From this investigation, fourteen genera and thirty-three species were identified. Based on nannofossils studies, an age range of late Miocene to Miocene- Pliocene boundary, as well as latest part of early Pliocene to latest part of late Pliocene are indicated.
