Abstract
The Venarj plutonic body is part of Urumieh- Dokhtar Belt and crops out about twelve square kilometers. This body is composed of the following lithotypes:
Quartzdiorites, Granodiorites in part porphyritic, Quartz Monzodiorites, Syenites Quartz- bearing and Monzonite.
Monzodioritic dikes are present in some parts of the plutonic body. Rhyodacite enclaves are present in the granodiorites. The body shows a number of textural types, like porphyritic, coarse to medium- grained and clastic. Some of the rocks are oriented as a result of syn- intrusive flow. The Venarj plutonic body is calcalkaline in character with Na>k, and all the lithotypes are peraluminous.
Geochemical data indicate that continental collision had occurred.
The Venarj body suite may be interpreted as a l- granite suite, generated from calcalkaline magmatites subjected to heating by underplating.
This body is cutting the Eocene volcanic rocks and the Oligo- Miocene limestone of the Qom Formation, thus it is post- Miocene in age.
