Mila Formation includes five members in the Tuyeh-Darvar section, west Damghan. Fifth Member of formation comprises alternations of calcareous shale, limestone and green shales. Trace fossils of this member includes Cruziana problematica, Gordia isp., Helminthopsis abeli, Helminthopsis tenuis, Palaeophycus striatus, Planolites beverleyensis, Psammichnites gigas, Scolicia strozzii and Treptichnus pedum. Circulichnis montanus abundant in the upper most layers of the fifth Member and is circular cylindrical ring in shape. Circulichnis is a fodinichnion, that produced by progressive and plasticity behaviors of annelids. It seems that these trace fossils are belong to the mid parts of the turbidite rhythmic sequences and formed in the turbidity conditions of the sedimentary environment.

The studied section is located in the southern flank of the Central Alborz, 5 kilometers north of Shahmirzad City in the Semnan province. This section is situated at 35° 48′ 40″ N latitude and 53° 16′ 59″ E longitude. The Mila Formation has 5 measurable members in Type Section (Mila Kuh, Damghan City) and only in this studied section. This formation overlies conformably the Early Cambrian Lalun Sandstone Formation and underlies disconformably the Early Devonian red conglomerates. Studied Conodonts of this formation are of Proconodontus type belonging to Coniform Groups. 14 species and 6 genera of these conodonts were acquired indicating an age of Mid-Late Cambrian and Early Ordovician. These Conodonts are listed as below: Proconodontus serratus, Proconodontus muelleri, Proconodontus rotundatus, Prooneotodus sp?, Prooneotudus tenuis, Furnishina furnishi, Furnishina asymmetrica,Furnishina sp., Furnishina obliqus-Hirsutodontus?, Westergardodina cf. mossbergensis,Westergardodina fossa, Cordylodus, Cordylodus intermedius, Cordylodus lindstromi,Cordylodus proavus, Oneotodus nakamurai & Problematoconites sp. A remarkable point is the discovery of species Prooneotodus tenuis in the second member of Mila Formation because no conodont has already been reported from this member. Other microfossils such as Trilobites, Brachiopoda, Hyolithes, Eocrinoidae, Rusophycus, Cruziana, Paleoscoleidae and Sponges were also obtained indicating the deposition of Mila Formation in a shallow marine environment. These fossils assemblage are comparable with those from other parts of Iran and neighbor countries.

Trace fossils are abundant in the clastic succession throughout the Shirgesht Formation of Kalmard Block, Central Iran. At certain horizons there are beds full of Cruziana and Rusophycus. This study presents an evaluation of the arthropod ichnotaxa of the Cruziana and Rusophycus from the Ordovician succession Shirgesht Formation. Apart from the broad range in morphology and size, Cruziana from Shirgesht Formation show higher behavioral diversity using food sources than has ever been documented in a single section. It consists of a straight, or gently curved, ploughed furrow usually a few centimetres across, which is divided lengthwise into two lobes, each of which is braided transversely by a series of scratches. These vary in arrangement and profile according to ichnospecies. Overall characteristics of recognized ichnospecies suggest that with the exception of C. semiplicata, the ichnofaunas contain all the members of the Cruziana rugosa Group throughout the clastic successions in Shirgesht Formation. It consists of the five members of C. rugosa, C. furcifera, C. goldfussi C. rouaulti and C. yini. The Shirgesht Formation material therefore indicates that these arthropod ichnofossil assemblages are suitable for Cruziana ichnostratigraphy in Shirgesht Formation. Accordingly, the present assemblage could represent the Early to middle Ordovician age. The arthropod traces also, occur with other biogenic sedimentary structures in a fine to medium grained sandstone with minor mudstone interbeds of the Shirgesht Formation. The substrate composition and ichnological evidence places the arthropod ichnofossil-rich unit in the Cruziana ichnofacies.
